About Transknowlogy, Toys for Boys, and a 111 Foot Yacht

Lifestyle, Cheekiness, and a distinct sense for brands are the ingredients of a stunning success story at SMC University. The following case shows how SMC students managed to combine their rigorous studies with fun and a multi-million Dollar business project.

SMC University stands for a truly global and especially practical education. Its outcome orientated learning model is directly associated with Transknowlogy™ - “Transfer of Knowledge via Technology”, a concept invented by SMC to lift management education onto the next level. A degree of SMC is not simply the proof of meeting and understanding theoretically oriented academic content. Based on the motto "there is nothing more practical than a good theory" a SMC degree is rather a certification for the ability to successfully bring theory and gained competence into practice and create value, especially.

What this means in SMC terms is truly unique: Just like new airplanes must earn their airworthiness certificate in flight, SMC students must proof their abilities in practice and bring their cases to real life. A group of students has been assigned a course project to develop “The Ultimate Toy for a Boy”.

Amongst this student group was the CEO of a globally renowned sports car producer, who came up with the idea to create nothing less than a 111 Foot Motor Yacht. It was baptized “One-One-One” - with reference to its length. Yet, assignments at SMC do not aim to produce paper only, but to turn a good idea into a real business. No sooner said than done and supported by SMC’s Network, the group founded a company named “Summit Marine”. Their first “One-One-One”, worth 10 Million US Dollars will go into serial production shortly.
